A new restaurant will be opening soon on Church St in the East Downtown area. Marva’s Place will be taking the spot formally occupied by the Sweet Beignet Cafe which closed late last year. We have been trying to find out more about this place and what they will be offering, but so far nothing to be found on the web, or on facebook. Signs in the window indicate that they will be opening soon and are now hiring. Residents will know this location not only as the former french louisiana style breakfast and lunch place, but before that a steak and seafood place that only lasted a short time…and before that a mexican restaurant that also didn’t last too long….and before that a Japanese steakhouse that lasted for years. Marva’s Place is looking to make that streak end while providing another eating option for that end of downtown. We’ll keep you posted on an opening day, or when they have a website available.
