We have been asked several times about this piece of property located at the corner of US 78/GA5/8 and Riley Rd in eastern Douglas Co over the last few weeks. Crews have been leveling the land and adding a drainage pond at the back end of the property. Construction started back in April. After several attempts at finding out the property owner (or owners), we stumbled on the listing at an employment website. Dollar General is now hiring for the store that will be located at 3990 Riley Rd. This is the property across the street from Beulah Baptist Church and across US 78 from Greystone Power’s central Douglas County Center in the Beulah community of unincorporated Douglas County. Included in the construction will be improvements to the corner and new curbs on both entrances, one on Hwy 78 and one on Riley Rd. This once vacant lot of overgrown weeds and kudzu will soon be home to a local store in a community vastly underserved by convenient places to grab quick necessities. Dollar General in recent years has popped up in several unincorporated parts of Douglas County in communities like Beulah who are in need of a convenient local option such as the Fairplay community. We’ll keep you posted on an opening timeframe, but Dollar Generals usually go up pretty quickly. Expect to see this one open late summer or early fall, Halloween at the latest.
