A Historic Pure Gas station turned Variety and Thrift Store, soon will be closing.

On Broad St as you come into Downtown from the East, many have noticed the historic Pure Gas Station that after all these years still stands, a window into a Douglasville long past. Several years ago this former gas station was turned into a variety and thrift shop. There you could find everything from furniture, clothing, posters and pictures, arts and crafts, and office supplies and furniture. We got word a few days ago that Douglasville Variety and Thrift Shop located at 6610 Broad St will be closing its doors to the public on August 25. The last day for the public will be an auction held to clear out the remaining inventory of merchandise. That begins at 10am at the location itself. Sad to see them go, will be one less shop gracing downtown as it is always a sad occasion to see a local business leave. We wish the owners the best in their future endeavors. We’ll keep an eye out on this property and let you know when there is a new tenant.
