The Carrollton Artist Guild will present the 12th annual Fine Arts and Crafts MeccaFest on October 10 and 11, 2015 from 10am-5pm at the Carrollton Cultural Art Center, 251 Alabama Street in historic Carrollton, Georgia.

The festival will feature fine artists from across the country selected by a jury process. Eat on site at a 1950’s diner or walk to the square and enjoy one of Carrollton’s fabulous restaurants. Admission is free, parking is free and all children’s activities and entertainment will be provided free. Entertainment will feature artist Mark Abbati from JoyUnspeakable with his Living Sculptures, local singers, dancers and instrumentalists, and world renowned 3-D Chalk artist from Rhode Island, Michael Macaulay, creating a (You will want your picture taken with it) masterpiece on the plaza. Entertainment will also include staged readings of poetry and short stories by local authors and will be emceed by professional musical theatre actor Chris Lewis. Demonstrations will include lathe artist Mike Scott (with exhibiting painter Charlsie Sprewell in the Roush Gallery), watercolorist Karen Chen, oil painter Tom Nielsen, and glass blowing by the Georgia Southwestern State University Art Department.

The children’s area will feature booths where participants can create their own masterpieces with local artists in an Alan Kuykendall created dragons and castle atmosphere. Children can make magic wands with Gerald Byrd from the Institute of the Imagination, get their faces painted with artist Pam Lane, create fairies with artist Melanie Drew from the Blue Heron Studio, and make dragon kites with Alan Kuykendall. The University of West Georgia art students, Carrollton High School art students and S.C.R.A.P. Bin will also be on hand to provide and assist with free children’s art activities.
