*Highway 46 yard sale. Although it officially starts at the state line a lot of Bowdon folk get involved with it too. Weekend  9/26

*Car Cruise at Smokin’ Pig – Make sure to drop in and enjoy the cruise. This beautiful fall weather makes for an enjoyable day in the outdoors. See attached for details.9/26

*Come out and enjoy an evening with friends and family at Copeland Hall. Let’s go back to yesteryear with The Alter Eagles this Saturday night. James Gibson, the metal sculptor, who loaned the horse in Freedom Park will also be displaying his work in the lobby of Copeland Hall before the concert. BES will be selling donuts and pastries as a fundraiser, so be sure to come early and stay late for art, music and sweets. See attached for details. 9/26

*Wendy’s renovation is completed and it is open for business!

*Next time you are driving through town slow down enough to admire the brand new 26 ft awning that is hanging over the old Potters Rhumb building. It is shiny blue and new! Thanks Peggy and Jimmy Bishop for improving the looks on this property. It is wonderful.

*The life size metal horse that was placed in Freedom Park will be there indefinitely. James Gibson, the artist, has agreed to let it stay in the park for residents and visitors to enjoy. Bowdon Main Street has commissioned Mr. Gibson to create a butterfly to be permanently installed in Heritage Park. It will be about 4 or 5 feet in length and about 4′ wide.

*News from BHS. The Bowdon High School FBLA Officers attended officer training this summer. Summer Leadership & Officer Training Summit (SLOTS) was held at Cartersville High School in Cartersville where our officer team began planning for the upcoming school year. The different breakout sessions helped to prepare local chapter officers for duties and roles. The officers participated in leadership and teamwork activities. In addition, chapter officers worked with their adviser, Laura Edwards, to develop the program of work and plan chapter strategy for the year including community service projects each month.

*H & R Builders at 832 E. College Street now has new owners!  Lanny Smith and Joey Adams have purchased the business and the name will be changed to H & R Cabinets.  Bob and Grant Huff will still be working there to assist you with all your cabinet sales and installation needs.  Keep your eyes open for major changes to the building this fall, including a beautiful new showroom.

*BMS is hosting the Miss Merry Christmas pageant this year. See attached for details and an application.

*FYI The Bowdon Convenience Center on New Hope Rd has changed its hours – It is now open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 7am-7pm. It is closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

*Physics Demo Night: 7-8:30 pm, Friday, Sept. 25th, in the Crider (Math-Physics) Lecture Hall at UWG.  This presentation is free and open to the public; it is suitable for ages 5 years and up.  Topics/demos include: a million volt zap cane, lightning The Electric Pickle, flaming methane soap bubbles, The Bed of Nails, the Exploding Wire, Jacob’s Electric Ladder, etc.  For more info, call 678-839-4097 or 678-839-4087; e-mail:[email protected].
