First Lady Deal Visits Providence Elementary School

(Carrollton, Ga. – October 13, 2015) On Thursday, October 8, First Lady Sandra Deal visited Providence Elementary School as a part of Pre-K celebration week. Providence Elementary School celebrated Pre-K’s birthday allowing students to dress in different colors, bake birthday cupcakes, have a birthday party, and have distinguished guests read to the students. Guest readers included First Lady Sandra Deal, Carroll County Schools Superintendent Scott Cowart, Director of Elementary Education, Jennifer Shirley; Principal, Dr. Terie Smith-Phillips; and Assistant Principal, Tena Musick.

Mrs. Deal shared with students a poem written by Governor Nathan Deal about the joys of learning to read. The students were so excited to have Mrs. Deal read the book, Pete The Cat and The New Guy! Students presented Mrs. Deal with a cupcake and gift basket as an appreciation for coming and honoring Pre-K.
