Word from the county on a fun activity this coming weekend in the south part of the county. The Arts and Crafts in the Woods event will feature local artists and vendors showcasing their work. The event is this Saturday 11/7 from 10am to 4pm. Here’s the release from the county:
4TH ANNUAL ARTS AND CRAFTS IN THE WOODS SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 7TH
AT THE DOG RIVER LIBRARY
The 4th annual Arts and Crafts in the Woods returns to the Dog River Library on Saturday, November 7th, to celebrate the Library’s anniversary. An estimated 20 vendors will exhibit during the day event which goes from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the Library grounds. In case of inclement weather, the vendors will move indoors; Arts and Crafts in the Woods is a rain-or-shine event.Â
Vendors will be exhibiting handmade products just in time for holiday shopping, including organic soap and bath products; beaded bookmarks; dichroic glass and jewelry; coloring books for grown-ups; painted canvas and wood signs; woodworking products, benches, tables and pens; pallet art and tin men; cloth ragdolls and crocheted accessories; and a lot more. Fresh pecans – picked October 26th – will be available for purchase. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers and other food will also be available to enjoy.
Cobb and Douglas Public Health will offer free and confidential HIV testing (cheek swab, no needles, with results in 20 minutes). The West Georgia Regional Library System will sign up readers for no-cost PINES library membership, as well as information on the Friends of the Dog River Library. The Friends group will be hosting a used book sale inside the library during the event.Â
Arts and Crafts in the Woods has free admission and is open to the Public. The Dog River Library is located at 6100 Georgia Highway 5 about 1.5 miles south of the Dog River bridge. The event is hosted by the Friends of the Dog River Library and the Douglas County Department of Communications and Community Relations. Arts and Crafts in the Woods is annually held on the first Saturday in November to celebrate the opening of the Dog River Library at that time in 2011.  Proceeds from vendor registrations go to the Friends group which financially helps to sponsor library needs.
Our thanks again to Wes Tallon for the info on this fun event!
