(Carrollton, Ga. December 7, 2015) Twentyfive members of the MZMS Jr. Beta Club attended the Jr. Beta State Convention in Macon, Georgia on November 19 and 20. Eighteen of these students competed in academic or artistic competitions. The following students competed in individual competitions: Emily Phillipsmath, Carrina Morelandscience, Davis Robertssocial studies, Allison GibsonLanguage Arts, Candace Chrzanspelling, and Jacob Perrypoetry. The following teams of students competed in the following competitions: Academic Quiz Bowl—Allison Gibson, Aaron Brown, Jacob Perry, and Alex Nguyen. Tower of Power (physics)—Hunter Tilson, Jarred Knight, Brianna Luallen, Noah Robinson, Kendrick Brownlow. Visual Design—Shania Chavez, Jennifer Morales, Emma Fordham, and Gracie Rankin. The visual design team placed second at the state competition. All members who attended participated in the election of new state officers. Mrs. Sharon Morgan has been the Jr. Beta Sponsor for the past six years and this is the fifth year the group has attended the state convention.
