It’s been a bit since we looked at what’s going on inside the walls of the Douglasville retail juggernaut. On a busy, bustling Saturday during the holidays we went inside for a peek to find a couple of new stores, a remodel and a surprising closing. Let’s dive in and take a look at Arbor Place with our Holiday update:
What’s New:Â A couple of new entries into Arbor Place this holiday, the first being a new airbrush art place called Airbrush Streetart. Here you can find and personalize t-shirts, other clothing, and accessories with airbrush art like you would find at beaches. The store has opened sandwiched between Crazy 8 and Enve Me Boutique on the top floor near Macy’s.
The Oil Bar has opened next to Rue 21 and Diamonds Forever. You may remember this site was the longstanding Avenues Newsstand since the mall opened, but closed over the summer. Here you can find oils and natural creams for all skin types as a natural way to treat yourself, or a great gift for someone you love. The Oil Bar has locations at Perimeter, Mall of Georgia and Sugarloaf Mills as well. We saw the place bustling with customers so be patient for the store is kind of small.
In the former Vapeworx spot near Macy’s on the ground floor comes a new boutique option for the ladies in Hayette Elegant. This store sells women’s clothing, handbags and accessories for the lady on your shopping list, or for the ladies that want to treat themselves. On the top floor, we have one move to tell you about. Kay Jewelers has moved to the corner spot near the Belk Court on the top floor. Store is brightly lit, and sports their logo on the outside of the store.
Of course pictured above in the beginning of the story is one kids of all age will enjoy, pictures with Santa! This event is going on now through Christmas Eve in the center court in front of Macy’s and Bed Bath and Beyond. Get your pics with Santa today before he heads back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas!
What’s Gone: A surprising closing in which we followed closely the development of this retailer when they announced that they were opening. Bijuju which set Arbor Place as its first entry into the Georgia market closed its doors after just a few months open. The retailer was situated next to Francesca’s on the top floor next to JCPenney. We have followed this retailer from entrance to construction to opening. We’re trying to get a read on why they closed so suddenly cause even struggling retailers usually wait 6 months to close. Bijuju opened in mid July. No word yet on whether their other planned locations at Town Center or Mall of GA are still happening or if what has happened has affected those openings.
With these additions and closings, the number of unoccupied stores at Arbor Place is down to just 4. Two on the first floor and now two on the second floor. Still a top notch job by Arbor Place management to keep the occupancy rate one of the highest in Metro Atlanta. We’ll take a look at Arbor Place again after the holidays when we will see if these retailers had a Merry Christmas or not. Until then, Happy Shopping and a Merry Christmas!
