The GBI Visits Central Elementary’s Robotics Club

GBI

(Carrollton, Ga. – January 15, 2016) The CES Lego Robotics club was recently visited by two members of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU). The mission of the GBI BDU is to support public safety agencies by responding to calls for assistance related to the recovery and disposal of explosive material, identification of suspicious packages, rendering safe destructive devices and post blast crime scene processing. Students were able to see the F68 robot that is used in the field and were able to relate the sensors and components on the F68 to components that they use when constructing and operating their robots. Club members were also allowed to view inside the GBI truck and learn how operators drive the robot remotely using various cameras viewed on a monitor.
