CHS Senior Maggie DiRoma Recognized by American Legion Auxiliary

(Carrollton, Ga. – January 27, 2016) Central High School senior Maggie DiRoma has been honored by the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) for attending the ALA Girls State conference this past summer. American Legion Auxiliary representatives presented Ms. DiRoma with a certificate of achievement for participating in the week long leadership opportunity.

The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is designed to develop leadership skills, confidence, and to give participants an action-based understanding of the government process. The summer conference instills a lasting foundation for success, both personally and professionally.

The American Legion Auxiliary believes that educating youth about the basic ideals and principles of government will help ensure the survival of our democracy. The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a unique and exciting government-in-action learning program in which ALA members guide young women to become knowledgeable stewards of freedom, democracy, and patriotic citizens.

Six-time STAR teacher, Alice taught Advanced Placement English, literature, composition, speech and theater for over twenty years, part of which time she also served as Director of Admissions, Development, Public Relations, and Alumni at Oak Mountain Academy. She is a board member of the Carroll Symphony Orchestra and enjoys playing flute with the Carroll Community Wind Ensemble.
