Press Release

On Tuesday afternoon, the officers of the Douglas County Disc Golf Association informed Douglas County Commission Chairman Tom Worthan that the Association would cease its construction of the disc golf course in the Clinton Nature Preserve, and no longer pursue a facility at that location.

The Association officers expressed their regret that the construction caused controversy, and are abandoning their efforts for the better good of the community.

The Georgia Forestry Commission visited the site on Monday, February 1st, and stated that the clearing that had already taken place would benefit the Preserve in the long term by removing some of the understory brush. The County will evaluate the clearing that has been done and work to include it into the current trail system.
