Staff Members Recognized at February 2016 City Council Meeting In Villa Rica

Several City of Villa Rica staff members were recognized by City Manager David A. Milliron during the February 2, 2016 monthly City Council meeting. Those recognized were:

Recognition 1

Mechanic Nic Griffin who recently obtained ASE Master Technician status from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. To achieve Master Technician status, Mr. Griffin passed a specified group of tests in a series in addition to documenting at least two years of relevant hands-on work experience. He must re-certify in each test area every five years to maintain Master Technician status. Congratulations, Nic!

Wastewater Plant Operator Robert Brumbelow who recently passed his Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator License certification exam. Mr. Brumbelow achieved the requisite number of years’ experience in wastewater treatment in addition to the required course work prior to being eligible to sit for the exam. Congratulations, Robert!

Community Development Director Janet Hyde on her perseverance to obtain Certified Local Government status for the City of Villa Rica through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division. Congratulations, Janet! Benefits for the City of Villa Rica include:

Recognition 2

Eligibility for federal Historic Preservation Fund grants;
The opportunity to review local nominations for the National Register of Historic Places prior to consideration by the Georgia National Register Review Board;

Opportunities for technical assistance; and
Improved communication and coordination among local, state, and federal preservation activities.
