NOW OPEN

A popular Charleston, South Carolina, restaurant is in the process of adding a Carrollton location next to the AMP in the newly renovated Bradley Street Mill. Brown Dog Deli, which will be operated by Wesley Denney and Rich Weaver, should open sometime during the summer of 2016. Denney was the original chef at Plates on the Square / Uncorked at Adamson Square. The Brown Dog will offer a full lunch and dinner menu, with a Southern taste theme in its rustic, Charleston decor.  There will be a 16-foot heart-pine bar and a private room. The floors are all reclaimed, and 100-year-old, heart pine boards are being repurposed into tables.

The focus will be on Charleston, with lots of local, CSA-type products including apple butter, preserves, local honey, farm-to-table produce, and seasonal specials and options.  Diners will enjoy very heritage, rustic food with a modern feel, such as shrimp and grits, and lots of New Orleans-type food. The corn meal will come from Charleston, and the bacon from Benton’s Bacon. Some of the bread will be imported from New Orleans. There will be Carolina crack rice, Sea Island red peas, and Moon Pie pudding, Georgia fish and chips (catfish and fries), fried green tomatoes, pork skin nacho wraps. You can get gourmet sandwiches and the Bradley Street burger, which will be ground in-house with minced bacon and cooked on a wood-fired grill. Theirs will be the only all-wood grill in town and will be burning hickory and oak.   The Brown Dog Deli will offer lots of salads, including the Susan Hayward salmon salad.

More details on the Carrollton restaurant will be released soon. We are thrilled to see Wesley bringing his creativity back to Carrollton.
