Residents along the Fairburn Road/Highway 92 corridor have been waiting patiently for years since the recession hit Douglas County and a bunch of commercial construction came to a halt. Slowly development has started up again, especially near the Lee Road intersection. Tractor Supply opened last year, and the final steps to get construction started on a new Taco Bell are being completed. Through a public zoning notice filed at the Sentinel today, we have learned that RaceTrac is now planning to add to the development at the intersection. A new RaceTrac convenience store is being proposed for the southwest corner of the intersection, adjacent to Walgreens. While not final yet, RaceTrac’s corporate office has requested rezoning from the county zoning board. The request is scheduled to come up for consideration on May 3. We will keep you updated if rezoning is approved and if we get any word on a construction timeline.

Special Thanks to Douglasville City Councilman Richard Segal for the photo, as well as calling attention to the zoning notice today in the Sentinel for everyone in our community (us too!).
