CARROLLTON, GA – Carrollton High School’s team finished its inaugural year as champions, winning the Student Ambassador Cup presented by the Georgia Secretary of State Student Ambassadors program.
The primary purpose of program, launched this year, is to promote voter registration and student involvement in the political process. The CHS team earned more than 48,000 points in the last weeks of the competition, hosting four voter registration drives, speaking to several classes at school about the importance of active citizenship and spending time giving back to the community. In addition, the SOS Student Ambassadors Facebook page featured a video about the upcoming presidential race and voter registration produced by CHS team member Leigh Anne Turner. Other team members are Anthony Zheng, Holley Dalton, Thomas Culwell, Max Schoenfeld, Hannah Brooks, Tim Green, Kirby Criswell and Jill Fazio.
Following Carrollton’s first place finish was Fannin County High School at second with 36,296 points and The King’s Academy earned third place with 12,085 points.
