CHS Students Take Top Honors at State Social Studies Fair

Sophomores Jackson Newbern, Maria Roman and Madelyn Jack took top honors at state Social Studies Fair.

CARROLLTON, GA – Two groups of Carrollton High School students competed in the state Social Studies Fair earlier this month at Clayton State University. Both groups did exceptionally well, according to Michael Harvey, Social Studies instructional coordinator.

Maria Roman and Madelyn Jack won Best in Discipline (Political Science) for their project on the Death Penalty. Jackson Newbern won Best in Discipline (Geography) for his project on Quality of Life throughout the United States.

Additionally, Jackson won Best Overall Project in the area of Geography from the Georgia Geographic Alliance.

“I am very proud of the efforts of these students,” said Harvey. “Their hard work and the support of others directly impacted these results.”
