The City of Douglasville will host a housing fair Saturday, August 13 from 9am to 12pm in the Douglasville Conference Center located at 6700 Church Street. Along with having local real estate agents, credit counselors, bankers and home inspectors on hand, the fair will highlight the Georgia Department of Community Affair’s Georgia Dream Homeownership Program and the PEN Program.
The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program provides down payment assistance with a 30 year, fixed interest rate mortgage. Local lenders give credit approval for FHA, USDA-RD, VA or conventional uninsured mortgage loans. Regions Bank is a local lender in our area. This program is designed for credit eligible first time home buyers or buyers who have not owned a home in the past 3 years.
The PEN Program provides down payment assistance to public safety officers, educators and nurses (health care workers). Educators include all employees of local, city, or county school boards recognized or accredited by the State of Georgia or regionally accredited associations including Head Start, Pre-K, Colleges and Private Schools. This would also include state certified teachers of daycare providers.
We are excited to partner with these organizations and our local agents to bring this information to the residents of Douglasville and Douglas County.
