Mrs. Tewanna Brown, a Business & Computer Science teacher at Mt. Zion Middle School, has been selected to serve on Governor Nathan Deal’s Teacher Advisory Committee.

The committee was established to review recommendations from the 2015 Education Reform Commission and to provide constructive feedback and guidance to Governor Deal, legislators, and policy-makers from the viewpoint of an active teacher in the classroom. Topics of review include teacher recruitment and retention, the implementation of competency-based education, and teacher compensation models. There were approximately 30 teachers selected from each region of the state including the north, south, and metro. The Governor requested teacher recommendations for service on the committee from RESA directors, superintendents, state educational leaders and legislators.

“I feel very fortunate to have been selected to serve on Governor Deal’s Teacher Advisory Committee and represent the teachers of Carroll County Schools,” stated Mrs. Brown. Connie Robison is the principal of Mt. Zion Middle School.
