State Farm Neighborhood Assist® Announces The Top 200 Causes That Need Your Votes

Carrollton, GA 10-25-16 – Communities across the United States answered the call from State Farm® to submit causes that would make a positive impact in their neighborhoods. Now the pre-school children of Carroll County need your help by voting for them to bring funding to the organization. From Oct. 26 through Nov.4, anyone with a valid email address can vote for Carroll County Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy at www.neighborhoodassist.com to help it receive a $25,000 grant.

The Ferst Foundation currently mails a free book every month to 3,350 children under the age of 5 in Carroll County, and that number is growing steadily. We must raise all that money locally (more than $120,000/year), so this grant would be a huge help to us as we work to grow the number of children served and improve the chances for success of our children. There are over 8000 children in Carroll County under the age of 5!

Two thousand submissions were received through State Farm Neighborhood Assist, a crowd-sourced philanthropic program that empowers communities to identify issues in their neighborhoods. At least one cause was received from every state. The State Farm Youth Advisory Board, a group of 30 students who are passionate about social responsibility, reviewed the submissions and selected the top 200 finalists based on criteria they created.

The 200 causes have until Nov.4 to rally votes and anyone voting is allowed up to 10 votes per day. On Nov. 30, the top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced at www.neighborhoodassist.com and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to the affiliated nonprofits.

“Neighborhood Assist is another example of State Farm allowing communities to make their own decisions about ways to make lives better in their neighborhoods,” says State Farm spokesman Roszell Gadson.
