Madras Middle School student Thomas Becker was named the Coweta County winner for the Atlanta Regional Commission’s 2016 Metro Water District’s Essay Contest.
Becker, a sixth grader, was selected as the winner from among the essays submitted by students in Coweta’s six middle schools. He and other winners of the annual contest will be honored on Wednesday, December 14, in a program held in the South Wing of the Georgia State Capitol.
Becker’s essay was about “why we need to conserve water and how. We’ve reduced our water consumption by 15 percent in recent years, and we need to do more.”
The Madras student joins students from the 16 counties in the ARC’s Metro Water District. An overall winner will be announced from among them December 14.
