“Montgomery – the Musical,” written by Dennis Blackmon and Regina Wells, and directed by Regina Wells,
is an epic love story, framed against the fires of the American Civil Rights era.
STORY: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta leave their safe, prestigious life in Atlanta. This young husband and wife journey to the quiet town of Montgomery, Alabama, have their first child and suddenly find the city is ablaze with the civil rights movement. The family is embroiled in a storm of conflict. Their house is bombed with Coretta and the baby inside. How can their love survive this?
CAST: Actors have been chosen from local talent, schooled in the tradition of black gospel music. Musicians from the Ebenezer Baptist Church Band (MLK’s original church in Atlanta), David Pippin on guitar, and members of the UWG United Voices Gospel Choir. Music Director: Terry Lowry
