While Adam DeCuir was playing with the idea of opening his own furniture store in Carrollton, he and his wife searched for the perfect name for the business. One name that started out as a joke, stood out to the couple.
“My name is Adam, and we have two sons, so I had the idea of opening a store called Adam and Sons, on Adamson Square,” laughs Adam. “Then one day, two years later, we woke up and our joke was the next logical step for our family.”
Adam and his wife, Jess, worked at a furniture store in Newnan for five years before the location closed, leaving them with an urgency to pursue their own business ideas.
“We have about a combined nine years of experience in the furniture business, so we wanted to open our own store and put our own personal touch on the model we learned from Ken’s Bargain Outlet, which was in Downtown Newnan,” says Adam.
Adam and Sons opened in November, and is attracting local customers by offering affordable prices on rustic furniture items.
Customers can purchase items from Adam and Sons in-store, or through order catalogs available on their website, for about 20% below retail prices.
“We’re always bringing in new and unique pieces to our store, but you can also order items through our catalog,” says Adam. “You can also keep up with new inventory we bring in by following us on Facebook. We regularly post pictures of some new favorites that we bring in.”
Adam says their selection includes brands like the solid mahogany pieces from Pacific Paladin, Mexican Imports from Royola Pacific, Coaster, and Homelegance.
“We carry high-end furniture items, and offer them at discounted prices, from what you would normally find them for in furniture stores,” says Adam. “We automatically mark all of our items down twenty percent off the retail price, but some of the items we have are actually half the price you might find elsewhere. Customers will point that out to us about every week. We import furniture directly into our own warehouse, which helps us cut out the middleman and offer great prices.”
In addition to furniture, Adam and Sons offers home décor items and gift items, such as nostalgic tin signs, a big selection of scented candles, and locally-made beer soap, signs, and accessories.
“We’re happy to be here to serve people in the Carrollton area,” says Adam. “Stop by and check out our selection, or visit our website and Facebook pages!”
