Keep Carroll Beautiful in cooperation with the Villa Rica Main Street Program has installed cigarette butt and ash receptacles in heavily traveled sidewalk areas in historic downtown – including outside retail and restaurant establishments – as part of its Litter Prevention program.
Every year, billions of cigarette butts end up in dumpsters and landfills, or get tossed as litter on shorelines, parks, and sidewalks across the United Stated, according to TerraCycle. The waste collected from these receptacles can be recycled into a variety of industrial products, such as plastic pallets, and any remaining tobacco is recycled as compost.
The receptacles are funded through a Walmart State Grant and will help reduce unsightly and dangerous cigarette litter throughout historic downtown Villa Rica.
Thank You to Director of Community Affairs Josh Ingle and the entire Keep Carroll Beautiful team!
