The Junior League of Douglas County hosted the Botanical Boogie 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run at Clinton Nature Preserve this past weekend. The Clinton Nature Preserve is located at 8720 Ephesus Church Rd, one mile west of Post Road. Created 10 years ago, the race allows the JLDC to invest in projects that help better the community.
“It started as our signature annual fundraiser to support our efforts in the community,” said JLDC President, Myesha Good.
In addition to benefitting the Douglas County community, proceeds will be invested back into projects, programs, and training for member of the Junior League of Douglas County. Some of the organization’s community projects include S.H.A.R.E. House programs, Reading Buddies for Head Start, Kids in the Kitchen at the Boys and Girls Club, and Book Brigade, which provides free books to elementary school children throughout the county.
“The League’s most ambitious project to date has been the building of the Children’s Playgarden, a handicapped-accessible playground at Clinton Nature Preserve,” explained Good.
The Junior League of Douglas County is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
