Design Center Inc to Close Shop

Longtime staple, Design Center Inc. will close their shop doors after 44 years and shift their business to online.

Located in the heart of downtown Douglasville, they specialized in both commercial and residential interior design. Some of their various design projects include a funeral home and several banks located in the Douglasville area.

“The business isn’t like it used to be. It’s been an interesting ride,” said owner and head interior designer, Charles Clark.

Over their 40-year history, Clark witnessed a great deal of Douglasville’s growth, including new businesses and the opening of I-20 past Hwy 5. “I remember when this building used to be Mosley’s Grocery Store. They used to deliver groceries on a bicycle,” explained Clark.

No word on the official closing has been given, but the building located at 6632 Broad Street is up for sale. However, Clark did offer several ideas on some potential future occupants of the building.

“There are many possibilities. I could see a future restaurant or bookstore located here,” said Clark.
