Small Town Bank started in Wedowee, Alabama in 1999 and has since opened full service branches in Roanoke, Ranburne , Heflin and also offers a loan production office in Oxford, Alabama. Small Town Bank saw the need for a more community based bank in the West Georgia area after prior community banks became bigger corporate banks. Small Town Bank decided to branch out into Carrollton and hired Galen Hobbs in early 2015. He opened a loan production office on Dixie Street but has since moved into the branch located at 1004 Bankhead Highway.

Patty Shoemake, Branch Manager and Lender became part of the STB family in June 2016. Both Patty and Galen have served Carrollton and surrounding communities for over 30 years in the banking industry. Patty hoped to open the doors of the Small Town Bank Carrollton branch with familiar faces that much of Carrollton had seen for many years in this very same location. Kay Collins, Head Teller was hired to fulfill that need. Patty stated “it’s like coming back home after being away for a few years.”

Small Town Bank strives to know their customers and that’s one of the things that sets this bank apart from the others. Patty stated, “customer service is a very important part of banking and it is a major part of what Small Town Bank strives to be the best in.” Galen Hobbs, Commercial Lender and VP, stated that STB strives to provide loan customers with quick response to their lending needs. STB offers many different loan products to include, consumer and residential consumer loans along with commercial, construction and commercial real estate loans.
Small Town Bank hopes that by bringing the simplicity back to banking that they can become a premier well known community bank in Carrollton and Carroll County.
