Downtown Douglasville is about to get a little cooler with the upcoming grand opening of Pelican’s SnoBalls, which is set to take place this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Named for the state bird of Louisiana, Pelican’s started 16 years ago and currently has over 100 locations in 10 states, including Georgia. “It’s grown quite a bit over the years,” said owner Erik Goodin.
The Douglasville store, located at 6482 East Broad Street is the seventh location in Georgia. Other locations in Georgia include Savannah, Kennesaw, and Conyers, according to their website.
Described as a gourmet dessert, the New Orleans-style shaved ice chain will feature 25 toppings and over 100 flavors, including unique flavors like Dill Pickle and Fireball. “The combinations are limitless,” said Goodin. “There’s something for everybody.”
In addition to music playing, there will be picnic table seating, including shaded seating outdoors. There will be games such as hopscotch, cornhole, and Pelican toss. Customers will also be able to take a photo with company mascot, Mardi G.
“It’s a great hangout spot for people and their families,” said Goodin.
