Latest Update from Carroll County, Ga Sheriff’s Office EMA
The National Weather Service (NWS) held a Special Weather Briefing today in reference to Tropical Storm Nate. Tropical Storm Nate is currently a Tropical Storm with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and a minimum pressure of 996 mb, moving NNW at 14 mph. The storm is forecast to make landfall between Biloxi Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama Saturday night as a Category 1 Hurricane based on the current track.
This landfall location is a slight adjustment to the east from yesterday’s forecast and there is also a sharp turn to the east once the storm makes landfall which has increased the possible impacts to our area.
This track of the storm with this forecast does indicate the following hazards for our area:
30 mph sustained winds
Up to 50 mph Wind Gusts
3 to 6 inches of rain possible
Tornadoes within the outer rain bands as early as Saturday night through Sunday night
The earliest time of arrival for our area is early Sunday morning with the most likely time of arrival in our area late Sunday morning. We can expect impacts to our area Sunday morning through Monday morning.
