Central High School is the recipient of a $2,200 literacy grant from the Dollar-General Literacy Foundation. English Department Chair, Mrs. Stephanie Trumble, applied for the Youth Literacy Grant on behalf of the English Department. The grant is for implementing new or expanding literacy programs, purchasing new technology to support literacy initiatives, and for the purchase of new books, materials or software.
Ms. Trumble will use the $2,200 for STAR Testing for Reading Enhancement. The STAR Reading program is part of the literacy initiative at Central High School and throughout Carroll County Schools. STAR Reading assessments identify which skills and sub-skills students know and which skills they are ready to work on next. The purpose is to maximize instruction and practice with state-specific insights and resources to guide students on the optimal path to reading proficiency.
Mrs. Trumble is in her seventh (7) year as an English teacher at Central High School. She teaches American Literature and Advanced Placement (AP) Literature.
