Construction over at Arbor Square has begun as Burlington, Home Goods, Bealls, and Del Taco were confirmed as the newest tenants at the shopping center.
“We’ve watched this potential project for quite some time,” explained Jonathan Dockery, founder of The City Menus. “We wanted to wait to release more details until other moving pieces started coming together.”
Considered one of the oldest shopping centers, original tenants at Arbor Square included Kmart and Philly Connection to name a few.
Bealls Outlet will take over the current spot currently held by Tile & Stone Express. Bealls, which was started in 1915, currently operates over 500 retail stores in Georgia, Arizona, and Florida. Located right next to Bealls will be Home Goods, a popular store featuring “one-of-a-kind handcrafted merchandise.”
Popular retail chain Burlington will be located next to Home Goods. Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the company started as a wholesaler of coats and junior suits in 1924. In 1972, the first outlet store opened in Burlington, New Jersey.
Specializing in American-style Mexican foods, Del Taco continues to expand across the United States with 550 restaurants so far. Founded by Ed Hackbarth in 1964, the first Del Taco store opened in Yermo, California. Decades ago, there were locations in several Georgia cities, including Carrollton, LaGrange, and Newnan.
“With Ben’s Antiques’ move to The Landing came some optimism about the redevelopment of Arbor Square,” said Dockery. “The development and new retail shops will certainly add more value to the Douglas Boulevard Corridor.”
