Carroll County, Georgia – Carroll County’s Comprehensive Plan update process continues to move forward. On September 18, a kickoff meeting was held, giving community members an opportunity to review the previous Comprehensive Plan, discuss aspects with planning team members, and offer feedback to refine it. The full draft of the Comprehensive Plan document is available for community review at the County’s website or at the Community Development Office at 423 College Street.
The county planning staff will give reports on the progress of the plan update at the Board of Commissioners work sessions held at 4:00 on the Thursday before each monthly Board of Commissioners meeting. The Board of Commissioners meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Historic Courthouse located at 323 Newnan Street, Carrollton. The public has an opportunity to weigh in and give recommendations until the plan is submitted for regional and state review in June of 2018. The previous Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2008, focused on community elements such as housing, transportation, zoning, and other land use matters, as well as economic development. The Comprehensive Plan is the umbrella policy document for the county’s future growth and development, which plays an important role in rezoning and development decisions. The plan also establishes community goals and priorities for the county’s future. The update process provides an opportunity for the community as a whole to pause and have a meaningful dialogue about its vision for housing, quality of life, and employment opportunities, along with the policies and programs that will support plan implementation.
Comments on the plan should be submitted to the planning team at [email protected]. or [email protected].
