Chamber’s Annual Harvest Dinner Celebrates Agribusiness in Carroll County

Doug and Dorcie Smith, poultry farmers, accepted the Agribusiness Award from Lawrence Shadrix (right) with Carroll County Farm Bureau at the annual Harvest Dinner sponsored by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

The 51st Annual Farm City Banquet was held recently highlighting the rural resources of Carroll County. Hosted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, three annual awards were presented following an address by keynote speaker John Piotti, President /CEO of American Farmland Trust.

Doug and Dorcie Smith, poultry farmers, were presented the Agribusiness Award by Lawrence Shadrix of Carroll County Farm Bureau. Jon Denny and Sam Duke accepted the Business Award on behalf of SunSouth. This award was presented by Paula Burke, UGA Cooperative Extension Coordinator. The Special Award went to Ryan Ayers, director of the Carroll County Young Farmers.

Daniel Jackson, President/CEO oF the Carroll County Chamber, thanked the premium sponsors for making the annual Harvest Dinner possible including AgSouth Farm Credit, Carroll County Cattlemen’s Association, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Farm Bureau, Carroll Electric Membership Corporation, and North Georgia Turf.
