FIT For The Future set to host 4th Annual Thanksgiving Day Community Brunch

This Thanksgiving Day, FIT For The Future will host the 4th annual Thanksgiving Day Community Brunch from 10am-1pm in Wendy’s parking lot located at 6131 Fairburn Road. Free haircuts, care packages, a coat drive, and health screenings are among the activities scheduled.

“It takes a village to raise the community,” explained founder and executive director, Brandon Pennamon.

Founded in 2013, the community development organization, which stands for “faith inspired thinking” has helped over 300 people within the community. Their year round mission to actively engage the community is accomplished through various events, programs, and initiatives, such as the M.E.N.S. Club.

A mentoring program for young men ages 6-12, the M.E.N.S. Club meets for 2 hours a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. In addition to helping with homework, the program includes time spent involving kids in sports, as well as teaching them important life skills at a young age.

“We teach them various life skills—including how to change a tire, table etiquette, how to balance a checkbook, and tie a tie. We’re basically teaching them how to be a gentleman,” said Pennamon.
