    Meteorologists with the National Weather Service expect snowfall to continue throughout the day as the system strengthens and keeps moisture. The band of expected snowfall has been extended further south to I-85 south of metro Atlanta.

    A winter storm warning has extended into Heard County today after forecasts show more snowfall for this evening. Precipitation is increasing, and snowfall totals are expected to be 1-3 inches in the Carroll County area with locally higher amounts.

    The National Weather Service (NWS) held a special weather briefing this morning to discuss the Winter Precipitation for the remainder of today and tonight.

    A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for our area until 1000 hours Saturday morning. The Winter Storm Warning area is being expanded further south to include Coweta and Heard counties and the end time has been extended from 0700 hours Saturday to 1000 hours Saturday.

    Increasing concern of additional snow overnight tonight when temperatures will be cold enough to support additional accumulation and specifically accumulation on the roadways.

    Current forecast is for 2 inches of total accumulation for our area but an additional 1-3 inches is possible with any snow bands that may cross specific areas.

    Carrollton City Schools will begin early dismissal with Elementary Schools at 1215 hours. Other schools will follow after the Elementary Schools. All activities this evening and Saturday have been cancelled.

    Expect hazardous travel conditions tonight after sunset when temperatures drop below freezing and public safety agencies are requesting that travel be limited overnight tonight into Saturday morning.
