Health Pavilion Project Under Construction on Dixie Street

With the new Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama facility now open in Wedowee and work in full swing on major expansions at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica and Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, Tanner Health System is turning its sites to its next big Carrollton expansion: the Tanner Health Pavilion.

Tanner has spent months clearing lots along Dixie Street in Carrollton in preparation for the new project. Site preparation is continuing now, and the health system is in the process of reviewing proposals from construction firms to head-up the massive, 130,000-square-foot, $35 million medical office project.

Styled in the manner of a “medical mall,” the Tanner Health Pavilion will offer outpatient diagnostic imaging services (including X-ray, ultrasound and MRI), a health system-operated outpatient pharmacy and a new cardiac rehabilitation center. The facility will also offer clinical suites for obstetrics and gynecology, primary care, heart and vascular care, pediatrics and more, bringing together a number of area Tanner Medical Group practices to a central location.

The facility will be built directly across from Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. The grounds of the Tanner Health Pavilion will accentuate greenspace, with walking paths that tie into the extensive Carrollton GreenBelt project. Greenspace will also be used for outdoor events and a seasonal farmers’ market.
