A new salvage store has opened in Temple off Highway 113. Discount Salvage opened last month and is quickly becoming a popular shopping destination for area residents.
The store is located at 327 Carrollton Street in the building that formerly housed Yazoo shopping center. Owners Juanita Gaskins and Phillip Blevins say the store offers discounted items for less.
“We are a salvage store, but we aren’t like most salvage places because we don’t carry items that have been damaged by fire or water,” said Gaskins. “We carry whatever we can get a deal on. Our motto is simple: We buy for less, so we sell for less.”
Gaskins said the store is currently stocked with grocery items, health and beauty products, hardware, dry goods, cleaning supplies, clothing, and lots of other items. She said she and Blevins plan on filling the 18,000-square-foot building with plenty of discounted items.
Gaskins and Blevins recently moved to the area from North Carolina to open the store. She noted that the couple enjoys living in west Georgia and looks forward to offering local shoppers some of the best deals around.
“We’re both down-home people trying to make a living, and we plan to offer a great shopping place with the best prices around,” said Gaskins.
She also noted that the store will be stocked with new items each week.
Discount Salvage is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
