LaGrange’s long-awaited downtown hotel held a ribbon cutting ceremony on February 1 to celebrate the opening of the new business. The Downtown Courtyard by Marriott is a 90-room hotel that is now opened to guests.
Downtown LaGrange Development Authority Executive Director Bobby Carmichael called the hotel opening a “game-changer for all of downtown.”
“I believe we have picked the best team and the best project for all of downtown for years to come,” said Carmichael. “This is going to be a game changer for all of downtown.”
Linco Properties President Josh Chapman, RA-Lin President Ben Garrett, and Paramount Hospitality President Nick Lakha along with the DLDA and City to make the downtown hotel a reality. The project presented many setbacks, but Chapman credited a can-do attitude from the LaGrange community as the reason the hotel was able to become a reality.
“LaGrange is a special place. We develop in different places in the state. The feel of the community makes life easy or makes life hard,” said Chapman. “Frankly, LaGrange made life easy. LaGrange should be incredibly proud of that can-do attitude and willingness because it can only make the community better. We felt it and we appreciate it. “
LaGrange Mayor Jim Thornton says the hotel looks even better than he could have imagined.
“What’s so exciting about this hotel is that it’s transformed the look of Lafayette Square,” he said. “It was so important that this hotel fit the setting of downtown LaGrange. It’s now become a landmark for the City, and we are very grateful.”
