Construction and remodeling is under way on a new event center that will also feature a bakery on Cedar Street in Carrollton. Chef Tano Phommasith, owner of Little Hawaiian Seafood Grill and Tiki Lounge, said he is glad to finally see the long-awaited project become a reality.
“We have tried in the past and, by the grace of God, he directed us to this old Richards & Associates property located on the corner of Cedar Street and Bankhead Highway,” says Tano. “We are in a very historic location that is filled with perseverance of hard work dating back to the mid-1950’s.”
The business is aptly named “Venue of Cedar.” Tano’s Little Hawaiian has long been hailed as one of the best eateries in Carrollton. He says he hopes to continue that success with the new event center.
“It’s just like our Little Hawaiian restaurant, located in an old mule barn that was built in 1903,” says Tano. “It is not about ideas, it is about our commitment and passion to serve to the best of our ability and to offer food of all ethnicity with global-inspired flavors.”
Venue on Cedar will feature seating for up to 400 people, and will accomodate weddings, banquets, corporate events, conferences, and much more. The venue will include an Executive Room with full dining packages for company meetings, as well as the Cedar Room, which offers a large dining hall for rehearsal dinners, birthdays, baby showers, family reunions and company parties of up to 100 guests.
The new business will also be the new home of Bakery27, a bakery owned by Tano that has grown in recent years. Tano says Bakery27, which services metro Atlanta with baked goods, pastries, and cakes, currently services Carrollton, Hyatt, Indigo Hotel, East Lake Golf Club, Park Springs, and other locations.
Venue on Cedar will also be home to Little Hawaiian’s Catering and Change wiTHIN by Kaitlyn Smith. Change wiTHIN is a food and nutritionist-prepared weight loss and balanced meals for pick-up and home delivery.
Construction on the Venue on Cedar project is being done by JFS Construction, a Carrollton-based construction company.
“Construction is by JFS Construction and it is going really well with the support of our City, and awesome hard-working crews,” says Tano. “Our bakery and catering kitchen expect to be fired up in late May and will be followed by our event center in August.”
