(Carrollton, Ga. – April 20, 2018) Carroll County School System recently named three new Assistant Principals. Luke McLendon will serve as Assistant Principal of Bay Springs Middle School. Cheryl Clark and Rick Sauls have been named Assistant Principals of Central High School.
Mr. McLendon was born and raised in the Villa Rica community. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Point University and a master’s degree in Reading and Literature from Walden University. After college, Mr. McLendon returned to Villa Rica to give back to his community through teaching and coaching soccer. He has been an educator at Villa Rica Elementary School for the last six years and is looking forward to continuing his career in leadership at Bay Springs Middle School. Mr. McLendon is married to his wife, Sadie, and has two children, Henry and Rosie.
Mrs. Clark is a native of Tupelo, MS and has passionately served as an educator for 18 years. Her experience as an educator began inMacon, MS where she taught for two years. After relocating to Georgia, she continued her career with the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) where she was named District Teacher of the Year (2009) and District Star Teacher (2014). In 2014, she joined the Butts County School System and has spent the past 2 years serving as an ELA Academic Coach for the Griffin-Spalding County School System. She is an advocate for literacy across all disciplines and works to effect change at the state level as a member of the GADOE ELA Advisory Council.
Mrs. Clark obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Rust College, a master’s degree in Post-Secondary Education from Troy University, and a specialist in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University. Mrs. Clark believes that educational excellence is maintained through collaborative efforts among all stakeholders. She enthusiastically promotes enriching and engaging educational opportunities for all students.
Rick Sauls is a 24-year veteran educator. He currently serves as a teacher and coach at Villa Rica High School. Mr. Sauls earned his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, his master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a specialist in Curriculum Instruction, Management and Administration. He is a member of Lifegate Church Mirror Lake. Mr. Sauls is married to his wife, Leisha and they have three children.
