Central High School’s Jarrod Jackson recently signed a basketball scholarship with the Coast Guard Academy. Jackson was a star on the court, as well as in the classroom. He maintained a 4.2 grade point average and was honored with numerous athletic awards throughout his tenure at Central High School.
Jackson will attend the Coast Guard Academy, located in New London, Connecticut. He was one of 300 students appointed from approximately 10,000 who applied for admission to the prestigious branch of the military. Jackson says he plans to become a commissioned Coast Guard officer with military service his chosen career.
“Jarrod has been an excellent example of how to balance athletics with being a great student,” said Central High School Principal Jared Griffis. “He has excelled on and off the court. I am proud of Jarrod’s accomplishments and very grateful for his willingness to serve our country.”
