A new ice cream shop will soon open in Bremen in the former Movie Gallery location. Mike Rafferty said he is currently working to open The Butter’d Udder at 205 Davis Boulevard in the Bremen Marketplace shopping center.
Rafferty owns the ice cream shop along with his father, Jim Rafferty, and brother, Kevin Rafferty. The family has roots in Boston and hopes to bring a new flavor of ice cream to the west Georgia area.
“We are all from New England and have trickled down, one by one, over the last twenty years to Georgia,” said Mike. “My brother, Kevin, is a chef who has a background in ice cream making, and I have been in the manufacturing industry for over twenty five years.”
Mike says the shop plans to feature ice cream and specialty coffee, as well as other treats. He noted that The Butter’d Udder will serve fourteen flavors of ice cream, and everything will be made from scratch each day.
“I hesitate to say ‘specialty’ coffee, but it will not be store-bought coffee. Rather it will be purchased from a local roastery to ensure quality and freshness,” said Mike. “There will also be pastries, muffins, and other treats to go along with the coffee.”
Kevin Rafferty serves as Executive Chef at Southwire Company in Carrollton. Mike says he hopes the ice cream shop will be a hit for residents in the west Georgia area.
“We are hoping to open early- to mid-June,” said Mike. Right now, we are working on buildout and doing some renovations to the space.”
