July 23, 2018 (Carrollton, Ga.) – The City of Carrollton is proud to announce the Carrollton Water Treatment Plant has once again earned statewide recognition for producing great-tasting water.
The Water Treatment Plant received the “2018 People’s Choice Award” Best-Tasting Tap Water in Georgia at the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) Annual Conference in Savannah. Carrollton competed against water plant winners from other Georgia districts in this yearly taste test, hosted by the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association (GAWWA). Mayor Hollingsworth and the City Council wish to thank Water Plant Superintendent Connie Nelms, Chief Operator Robert Moore and all the Water Plant employees, as well as the employees of supporting departments, including Facilities Maintenance, Systems Upkeep and Engineering, for their dedication and devotion. These achievements could not be accomplished without the cooperative efforts of the entire city staff.
The “People’s Choice Award” is the latest in a long list of achievements and awards that signify the quality and dependability of the Carrollton Water System. Other awards received by the Carrollton Water Treatment Plant include: Gold Award for Quality Operation for 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017; GAWP District 3 Best Tasting Tap Water Winner, 2009; District 3 Best Tasting Tap Water, 2017; GAWWA Best Tasting Tap Water in Georgia, 2017; District 3 Best Tasting Tap Water, 2018 and the Laboratory Quality Assurance Award in 2005 and 2012.
