The opening of a new southern-inspired, fast casual dining restaurant, which has been highly anticipated by the Carrollton community, will soon be here. Chicken Salad Chick will be located at 1765 Highway 27 South and plans to officially kick off its Grand Opening Week celebration on August 7.
The company has deep roots to the Carrollton community as Chicken Salad Chick CEO Scott Deviney is a Carrollton native who graduated from Carrollton High School in 1989. He lived in Carrollton until leaving to attend the University of Georgia and was recently honored with the UGA Distinguished Alumni Award for 2017.
“As a graduate of Carrollton High School, I made so many wonderful memories growing up here and I’m thrilled to introduce Chicken Salad Chick to a place that means so much to me. This brand is truly one-of-a-kind and I’m excited for my family and friends to experience its warm Southern charm, says Scott Deviney.”
The restaurant will be located in the space that formerly housed Lenny’s Filling Station and will feature a drive-thru, as well as indoor and outdoor seating options.
Chicken Salad Chick is a unique restaurant, offering a wide variety of southern favorites and a dozen different chicken salad flavors.
“My mother and I love Chicken Salad Chick,” says Jonathan Dockery, owner of The City Menus. “It’s certainly a place where we can enjoy a nice conversation and a comfortable setting. The team members are so friendly and tend to your every need! Our favorite item on the menu is the ‘Fancy Nancy.’ This chicken salad has delicious Fiji apples, seedless grapes, and pecans! My grandmother would make the same type of chicken salad during my springtime visits. She always included the Duke Mayo just like Chicken Salad Chick does. I guess that’s why I love it so much!”
Jonathan says he has witnessed Chicken Salad Chick explode in the South to quickly become one of the most popular new fast casual dining destinations in many cities across Georgia and Alabama.
“Since I introduced my mother to Chicken Salad Chick in Homewood, Alabama, I’ve seen an increase of new locations all across the Mid-South including one right here in Carrollton, Georgia,” says Jonathan. “She is excited to take all her friends here on lunch outings because of the comfortable setting and wonderful staff. She’s told so many people about it. We are both excited for the opening.”
The idea for Chicken Salad Chick began in Auburn, Alabama, in 2008 with Stacy Brown. She was widely known for her flavorful chicken salad recipes in her hometown, but the local county health department would not allow her to continue making and selling her delicious recipes out of her home kitchen.
Undeterred, Brown went about launching her first restaurant with the business expertise of her future husband and fellow founder Kevin Brown. Together they opened a small takeout restaurant, which quickly grew in popularity among local patrons. The company now has 91 restaurants across the Southeast.
Carrollton’s Chicken Salad Chick is owned by Lanier and Rod McLeod, who also own the chain’s Newnan location, which has quickly become a local favorite among those in the Coweta County area.
“As proud owners of three Chicken Salad Chick restaurants, we can’t begin to explain how excited we are to introduce this brand to yet another deserving community,” said Lanier McLeod. “Chicken Salad Chick only gets better with age, as the flavors continuously change to offer guests a true taste of the South’s most mouthwatering ingredients. This dedication to quality puts Chicken Salad Chick on a pedestal above the rest and we are confident the residents of Carrollton are going to fall in love.”

“Chicken Salad Chick is THE place for chicken salad lovers to rejoice,” says Libby Massey, Community Marketing Manager for the company. “We’ve taken this Southern favorite to a whole new level with twelve flavors of chicken salad served from the heart. We make our delicious chicken salad by hand every morning, using only premium chicken tenderloin. Our recipes are crafted with the perfect combination of sweet and savory ingredients, Duke’s Mayonnaise, and our secret blend of spices and seasoning.”
“Beyond chicken salad, our fans rave about our fresh side items (especially our grape salad and broccoli salad!), our homemade pimento cheese, gourmet soups, and seasonal desserts.”
Massey says the restaurant’s atmosphere and service are as Southern as its dining experience.
“We don’t take ourselves too seriously at the Chick, and our hospitality is sure to please,” says Libby. “Whether you’re catching up with friends and family or just grabbing a quick bite, Chicken Salad Chick is your neighborhood destination to sit back, relax, and enjoy some delicious food. Why? Because we believe that good food brings people together and nourishes the soul.”
