The Arbor Place Mall location of Macy’s is set to unveil its newest venture—Macy’s Backstage. The store is currently undergoing an extensive remodeling to accommodate the new store concept that Macy’s is calling a “store within a store.”
The Douglasville Macy’s location is currently remaining open while the renovations are being made. The store is shifting some departments around to make room for the Macy’s Backstage.
Lauren Vocelle, media relations manager for Macy’s, says the new concept is directed toward cost-conscious shoppers.
“The Macy’s Backstage assortment offers current fashion trends as well as its own distinct product categories making it truly a one-stop-shop,” said Vocelle. “Backstage offers a great selection of fashion-forward merchandise for men, women, and children while including an expanded assortment of beauty brands, jewelry, and designer handbags, as well as adding categories such as gourmet foods, home décor, pet supplies, toys, kid’s shoes, and electronics. Backstage is separately sourced with different buying teams than the Macy’s department store. Some brands will cross over, but product will not be the same.”
Macy’s Backstage will feature items priced from 20 to 80 percent off department store prices.
A media release from Macy’s describes the new store concept as one that will allow shoppers to score the best deals possible.
“A cross between a department store and an outlet, the Macy’s Backstage experience delivers entertainment and an all-access, VIP pass to fashion and savings,” the release stated. “Designed to spotlight new products on a faster turn-around, the smaller format of Macy’s Backstage allows shoppers to spot the latest trends and score the best deals in an easy to shop and easy to find store environment. Carving retail space within a Macy’s full-line department store, this new retail combination of an outlet store within a store gives shoppers a new discount destination located right inside of their favorite store, and in the heart of their favorite mall.”
The store will host a grand opening celebration for Macy’s Backstage on Saturday, September 15 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting, music, snacks, a photo booth, and gifts with purchase throughout the day and will also have giveaways for the first 200 customers.
