Newnan will soon have a new restaurant opening that will bring some Caribbean spice to the area. Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill is slated to open toward the end of August or first of September, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The restaurant is located at 1485 Highway 34 Suite C2 in Newnan. With more than 100 locations, Golden Krust is a major Caribbean cuisine chain that has recently spread to several states across the country. The New York-based company has been gaining a foothold in many cities across the state of Georgia in recent years.
Golden Krust’s menu features many well-known spicy Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and Jamaican patties, as well as jerk fish, dumplings, steamed yams, and curried meat dishes.
According to the Golden Krust website, the restaurant chain serves “family recipes” that have been passed down since Lowell Hawthorne opened the company’s first restaurant in the Bronx in 1989. Hawthorne modeled the restaurant after his father’s 50-year-old bakery located in Saint Andrews Jamaica.
Since then, the Golden Krust brand has flourished in the United States and continues to see growth in many states across the eastern portion of the country.
