UWG to Host 11 Alive for “Atlanta and Company” Segment

The University of West Georgia will host the Atlanta-based morning talk show “Atlanta and Company” to preview its Homecoming festivities in a series of segments to air Friday morning.

The segments will air throughout the show’s broadcast from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. “Atlanta and Company” airs on WXIA 11 Alive, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate. UWG’s portion will be pre-taped during a shoot to take place at University Stadium Thursday from 2:15 p.m. The shoot will last approximately one hour.

“This is an awesome opportunity to showcase all of the exciting events and activities surrounding Homecoming this year and build up our community’s energy for the weekend,” said Daryl Dickey, UWG’s athletic director. “Having ‘Atlanta and Company’ join us to show off all of the great things happening at UWG will affirm for our community and the metro Atlanta area what we already know: that UWG has the best Division II fan base out there.”

The special will feature a preview of Saturday’s game against West Alabama, as well as highlight the initiatives, projects and latest news out of UWG. Cheerleaders, the UWG Marching Band and other student organizations will be on hand to show off the gameday spirit expected every Saturday there’s a home game in Carrollton.

All students, faculty and staff members and Wolves fans from the community are invited to participate in the segment, which will be filmed outside University Stadium at Wolf Plaza on Thursday, Oct. 18, beginning at 2:15 p.m. Free T-shirts will be given to all who participate in the shoot – white T-shirts that can be worn to Saturday’s game, which will be UWG’s first “white-out” game of the year.

“We want as many people as possible to join us Thursday afternoon to show off their UWG pride,” Dickey said. “So wear your red and blue, bring your shakers, and be ready to show ‘Atlanta and Company’ how great it is to be a Wolf.”
