UWG Earns No. 2 Seeding in NCAA Division II Football Playoffs

Head coach David Dean and the West Georgia football program will return to the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs in 2018, and the Wolves will be the No. 2 seed in this year’s bracket, playing host to the 7th-seed Wingate Bulldogs in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Kickoff for Saturday’s first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs in Carrollton will be noon, and tickets will be available through the UWG Athletics Online Ticket Portal at 9 a.m. Monday. Pricing for playoff tickets at UWG is listed below.

All attendees, including UWG students, faculty and staff, must purchase a game ticket to NCAA Division II Playoff games. No passes will be accepted for any playoff game hosted at University Stadium.

This marks the second-straight year that UWG has reached the playoffs under Dean, and it is the fourth playoff trip for the Wolves in the last five years. The Wolves finished the 2018 regular season with a 10-1 record and a 7-1 mark in Gulf South Conference play to earn the No. 2 seed in this year’s Super Region 2 bracket.

The 7th-seed Bulldogs finished the year at 8-3 on the year and 5-2 in the South Atlantic Conference, also earning a trip to the Division II playoffs in back-to-back years. Wingate was the third seed in the 2017 Super Region 2 bracket, falling at home to the West Florida Argonauts.

Reserved Seats – $15
For the whole of the 2018 playoffs in University Stadium, reserved chairback seats will be open to the public. Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their seat from Monday at 9 a.m. until Thursday at 5 p.m., when UWG Athletics will release all unsold reserved chairback seats. Tickets in the reserved section for the 2018 playoffs are $15 per seat both online prior to the game and at the ticket booth on gameday. General Admission Seats – $10
Outside of the reserved section on the west side of University Stadium, all other seats are general admission, including The Zone grass hill under the University Stadium scoreboard. Fans may purchase general admission tickets in advance at the UWG Athletics Online Ticket Portal or at any ticket booth on gameday. The cost of a general admission ticket for the 2018 playoffs at University Stadium is $10. All fans five years of age or younger, per NCAA policy, receive complimentary admission.

Student Admission – $5
All student tickets for the 2018 NCAA Division II Football Playoffs are general admission seats and are available for $5 both in advance and at the ticket booth on gameday. Students may purchase their ticket (1 per valid UWG student ID) at the bookstore until 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon, or at the ticket booth on gameday.
