The Bremen City Schools Family Park currently serves as the high school baseball field, tennis courts, and multi-purpose field used mostly for lacrosse. Soon it will also be home to a half-mile walking trail around the perimeter of the facility.
Bremen City Schools is currently in the process of getting bids for the project. Once the bids are received at the end of this month, they anticipate work to begin on the project sometime in December. According to BCS Superintendent David Hicks “If all goes well and pending weather, we hope to have everything complete by the end of February.” The school system applied for and received a federal grant to cover the funding of the project.
Superintendent Hicks mentioned once they started discussing the park itself, the idea of the walking trail came up. The walking trail is meant to help with making a more active lifestyle for the community. “We definitely want members of the community to use the walking trail,” said Supt. Hicks “We are trying to encourage a healthy lifestyle for all of us, and we hope the walking trail helps with that.”
