Future Look of Gymnasiums: Rendering by RA-LIN

Two high schools in Troup County are in the process of getting new gymnasiums. Troup County High School’s new gym is further along in construction than LaGrange, but officials hope for the completion of both sometime in the summer of 2019.

The Troup County Board of Education approved RA-LIN to be the contractors for both new gyms. Both schools will receive a 65,000-square-foot competition gymnasium that will feature various athletic support spaces, as well as a 26,000-square-foot indoor practice facility that will also feature athletic field turf.

Both projects were originally estimate to cost $9 million, but the Troup County Board of Education recently voted to increase the maximum budget for Troup County High School’s facilities to $14.1 million. The LaGrange High School facility’s budget was approved at $13.4 million. Both projects are funded by Education Special-Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax dollars.

The Troup County High facility is scheduled to be completed in July 2019 while there has not been a completion date set for LaGrange High’s new gymnasium.
